Shielding Tree

A scene from Pinocchio with the dialogue removed. The music is great, and the animation, while annoyingly conservative, is done masterfully. Probably cost a fortune to make. I actually have never seen the movie (to my memory), but I ought to at some point.

To see what I mean by it being conservative, compare it to the transformation of Bugs Bunny into a donkey at 5:30 in the video below. Notice how unlike Pinocchio, it actually feels like a cartoon. Below are model sheets of Bugs and Pinocchio. While Bugs’s figure is highly exaggerated at certain points, Pinocchio and the other guy mostly stay strict to the regular laws of physics (other than the whole turning into a donkey aspect.)

Anyway, it’s still worth watching. I wonder if the whole movie is this good.

Well actually, if you’re only gonna watch one video, you should watch “Falling Hare” below instead. Maybe I should have made this post about that.
